How to assemble a percolator and make coffee.

1. Install the pump stem.
2. Then place the basket on the pump stem.
At this point you:
- add your water to the pot
- put in a filter
- and add your coffee grounds.
3. Place the spreader on top of the basket.
Last step is to put the lid on the top.
so, when do you actually talk about how to brew the coffee..as i can see it this site is not yet completed. i may come back when it is..
That is really about it, you add the grounds in picture 3, add water, plug it in and off you go.
some tips on great percolator coffee is.. bring the water to a boil first. turn down heat and insert brew basket and stem cover and let perk slowly for 7 1/2 minutes. for a real flavor enhancer save eggs shells in a glass jar and add several pieces to coffee grounds and sprinkle with a few grains of salt.. If you have good tap water its fine as it seems to bring out flavor in the coffee.. After the water has boiled it makes no difference what type of water you use.. The heat alters the waters taste.. Try a paper filter in the coffee basket.. It works well.. decanter the coffee in a thermos at once for best second cup… Enjoy.. I wish that Maxwell House would come back with their 1897 blend that they took off the market.. It was so good and flavorful. Does any one remember it?
I have an electric base with my Pyrex glass Flamewear percolator. But it does not heat enough to perc can the glass pot be used over electric element or gas flame?
boght a used 4 cup faberware perculator. Where does the spring go? I made hot water this am , but did not smell or look like coffee Figure the spring must be in wrong place
